Gratitude
ˈग्रैटिट्यूड्
The feeling of being grateful or of wanting to give your thanks to somebody
कृतज्ञता या किसी को धन्यवाद देने की इच्छा
We all have heard so much about showing Gratitude or being grateful for things in life no matter how small it is. But do we understand what happens when we are grateful about anything and everything in life??
Gratitude is being humble, accepting, and thanking the Divine for giving us a chance to be a better person and see the world and surroundings in a beautiful light.
I have always been thankful for everything in my life... Well, that is what I thought, that right before going to bed, I needed to thank the universe for everything in my life and for specific events that occurred that day. Slowly, I recognized that the situation had become too mechanical; there was no genuine thanks, only words, words, and more words. I'd lost touch with the emotion and significance of this lovely process.
When I was at the bottom of my life and couldn't see any silver lining or light at the end of the tunnel, I started seeing messages around me about gratitude and about being thankful. The "I know all of it " attitude got triggered, as I have been doing this since I was a teenager, I am a pro in it now!. little did I know that I had turned it into a mechanical practice and also had missed out on the essence of it. Divine works in mysterious ways, but not in mine ;).My sister, who is quite spiritual and has been dabbling in tarot reading (quite accurate, I must say), and I were sitting and talking one day when she received a message that I should be grateful (literally out of nowhere), and then she said: "I think you need to start being grateful". I was amazed and perplexed as to what I should do nowwww!!??, wasn't I being grateful already
So many signs, so many messages, and yet the dumb human is unable to understand the simplicity of it. This is where our limiting beliefs play the most important part; however, I was advised to start keeping a gratitude journal every day. (Thank God!) I immediately followed the advice. I went to the store and purchased a lovely diary and a set of colored pens, to begin my Gratitude Journey. I began with a thank-you note to the Universe for loving and caring for me, even when I am adamant about not hearing or seeing what is right in front of me. The next day, before retiring to bed, I closed my eyes and requested the universe to guide me to the color I should use to write my gratitude today...I mostly used purple and light pink colors because I'm still working on my self-love and was drawn to those colors more than other colors. My life has changed drastically since I began this journey, and I make it a point to remember all of the pleasant and happy events or emotions that occurs each day..That way, you're more likely to focus on the positive rather than the negative.I began to be more calm and cheerful because when you count your blessings, you realize that life has given you a lot and continues to give you even when you don't ask for it.
It is not happiness that brings Gratitude; It's Gratitude that brings us happiness.
Since I have benefited from this process I decided to share it with the people around me...
came up with 7 days of Gratitude challenge!!
I know, I know, most people do it for 21 or 30 days, but since we were towards the end of the year, I wanted to give everyone a variety of challenges to prepare them for the coming year and the blessings they would receive.
It's simple to accomplish and a wonderful place to start when it comes to self-preparation.
I'm sharing the 7-Day Challenge we completed, along with some additional ideas and gratitude prompts list for your journey.
Welcome! This is your first step on this wonderful journey.
This practice can be done at any time of day, but it's best to perform it right before bedtime or first thing in the morning. It is suggested that you keep a journal for this purpose.
